Mighty Surf Lords: www.myspace.com/themightysurflords – The guitar and bass player from the Mighty Surf Lords founded the Loving Hearts Club in Reno, NV and routinely organize meals for the homeless. The band and I felt it would be a tremendously good idea to do this on the East Coast and we expect both shows, one in New Haven and the second in Worcester, to be quite successful. Here is a recent article about the band and The Loving Hearts Club:

SmokeStack and the Foothill Fury

invades Connecticut on April 19th at Cafe Nine (http://www.cafenine.com/) 250 State Street New Haven, CT.

SmokeStack is the real deal, a vagabond minstrel, a one-man band, traveling the country with his plain and simple kick yer teeth in, self-styled punk-country-blues. He summons in equal parts the spirits of Son House and Joe Strummer, belting his raspy baritone over a furious slide guitar and a snare/bass drum rhythm section that he plays with his feet. A true DIY, he has crossed the 225,000 miles in almost 4 years mark….so pucker up and get a taste.

Check out this video from the Dive Bar in Worcester and then get yourself to New Haven for a real dose of authentic punk blues.

Thursday night March 18th 2010

Come to Cafe Nine and catch the first night of the The Vivisectors 2010 Tides of March tour!
With 9th Wave and the North Shore Troubadours. Show starts at 9 pm.

A little bit about the bands:

The Vivisectors are one of a handful of Russian bands who are currently playing surf and instro. “Lo-fi Psychosurf band from Deep Russian Underground”! That’s how The Vivisectors are calling themselves. Guitarist Mike Antipow draws influence from Hank C. Burnette, Dick Dale, John Lee Hooker, Hubert Sumlin, but from all styles he prefers minimalistic and lo-fi.

9th Wave are CT’s premier hot rod surf-instro band and lead the way in innovative and creative powerhouse surf.

The North Shore Troubadours also hail from CT and are considered by many to be the best Prog-Surf Rock in the state.

This will be a once in a lifetime show and it should not be missed!

The Vivisectors’ The Tides of March USA Tour 2010

I am so pleased that The Vivisectors asked me help book this tour for them. They are wonderful musicians and my dear friends. There are several shows between March 18 – March 27, in CT, NJ and NYC. Many thanks to 9th Wave, North Shore Troubadours and Commercial Interruption as well Unsteady Freddie for working with me to make this a success.
